We strive to provide diversity in our programmes, so that as many students as possible can find their musical area of interest – choral, orchestral, jazz, rock, pop and electronic. There is an opportunity for every aspiring and existing musician to thrive!
Our exciting Music curriculum stretches from ELC to Senior School, including the IB Diploma programme, VCE, and VET (Music Industry). Music studies are a compulsory component of the curriculum for students from ELC/Primary through to the end of Year 8.
Boarding Scholarships & Awards
Students in Prep to Year 6 participate in weekly music lessons exploring voice and musical instruments to develop concepts about sound and musical awareness.
Students in Year 7 and 8 study the elements of music through listening, composing, improvising, music technology and consolidating skills in music literacy. Students participate in ensemble music or learn another instrument in a group situation.
In Years 11 and 12, students may continue to study Music through VCE Music Performance, IB Diploma Music course (SL and HL), or VET Music Industry (Performance or Sound Production).

Instrumental and vocal tuition is offered at each campus with lessons occurring mainly during class time. Individual and group instrumental, and vocal tuition are available to Timbertop and Senior School students and does not require enrolment in Music as an academic subject to participate.
The annual House Music competition is a lively addition to the Corio Campus calendar and has been in place since 1944 . This annual sound sensation sees each of the ten boarding and day Houses present three carefully selected songs to all of Senior School, staff and external adjudicators, and one of the many inter-House activities at the School promoting camaraderie, teamwork and the spirit of competition.
Scholarship recipients are expected to participate fully in the musical life of the School and be active contributors in our School community.
