Gallery Hours Plan Your Visit to Geelong Art Gallery

To gain the maximum benefit from your visit to the Gallery we suggest that educators visit the Gallery in advance and view the relevant exhibition or discuss the works with the Gallery Educator.

An entry fee of $3-5 per student will apply to school groups wishing to visit Geelong Gallery and experience a tour led by the Gallery Educator.

Geelong Gallery invites pre-school, primary and tertiary students to embark on a journey of discovery through pictures, places, people and stories. Our program is specifically designed to inspire wonder, curiosity and delight in the visual arts world. Offering a combination of contemporary and traditional models of learning, students will be given a hands-on opportunity to learn about the visual arts and engage in an exciting and diverse environment brimming with vibrant works of art.

All-Gender, wheelchair access, baby change, female and male toilets can be found on the lower level of Geelong Gallery, to the right of the staircases. Wheelchair access is via the lift.

Audio labels are available on selected works in the Gallery’s permanent collection and exhibitions. Look out for the QR codes located next to the works of art. All labels are read by a Geelong Gallery Guide—part of a diverse group of volunteer community members dedicated to life long and inclusive learning.

Geelong Gallery’s Art + Memory program provides individuals living with early to mid-stage dementia a supportive environment to foster meaningful and intellectual engagement with life-long learning.

Art + Memory tours will encourage health and well-being through visual and intellectual stimulation generated by discussion based on works of art and placing value on the participants’ own personal connections.

A tailored Gallery experience for people of all ages with a disabilityor specific access needs. Facilitated group-based discussions, encourage looking and connecting ideas in works of art in the Gallery’s permanent collection—placing value on the participants’ own personal responses.

Geelong Gallery will visit your community organisation, aged care facility, or nursing home to facilitate group-based discussions, looking at works of art from the Gallery’s permanent collection. The program promotes health and well-being through visual and intellectual stimulation for people who are affected by barriers of access to arts, culture and learning activities due to factors of mobility, economic disadvantage and social context, transportation, mental health and isolation.
